Do you have to do bridge to practice in Letrs? ›

Do I have to complete Bridge to Practice? If you would like to be approved to teach literacy in K-3 then you MUST complete Bridge to Practice if LETRS is your chosen pathway. The journal and student packets must be completed and signed off by a supervisor.

Make use of Journals or Diaries

By filling in journals or diaries, you can encourage your students to focus on their own journeys and adjust their learning. By writing down ideas, students have an outlet to reflect on their thought processes, which provides them with insight into their progress.

Examples could include poetry, visual art, (paintings, drawings, sculptures) music, (rap is a rather popular choice for this exercise), individually created games or puzzles, any form of creative outlet that gives the student the chance to perform or explain in front of the class is what you are looking for.

Time to complete LETRS

The time to complete the reading, online, and Bridge to Practice activities will vary, but as a rough guide, each volume takes approximately 48-60 hours of individual study to complete. Online course (including reading/participant manual): approximately eight hours per unit.

You are not able to retake the posttest, with the following exception: If you are seeking to become a LETRS facilitator, and you scored 80-87% (LETRS) or 80-89% (LETRS for Early Childhood Educators) on your posttest, you can request to retake the posttest by contacting Lexia Customer Support.

LETRS training is a combination of online coursework, independent reading, classroom application (entitled Bridge to Practice) and a 6 hour virtual workshop.

Certification Prerequisites

These can be virtual or in person, spread across several months. Pass the end-of-course exam following Unit 4 or Unit 8 with a score of 88% or better. If you score an 80–87%, a one-time exam retake may be requested. If you score 79% or lower, you are ineligible to become a Facilitator.
