20, 1995 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. LaVern Higgerson ZEIGLER LaVern Higgerson, 83, of 201 Walnut Street, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1995, at his home.

Mr. Higgerson was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Bessie to Walter and Agnes (McFarland) Higgerson. He married Marian Janette Hunter Feb. 19, 1933, in Carmi.

She survives in Zeigler. Other survivors include a son, Roger Hunter Higgerson of Kearney, a daughter, Nancy Janet Higgerson of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Ronald James Higgerson and his wife, Julie of Kansas City; Lisa Renzelman and her husband Randy of Kearney, and Kenneth Hunter Higgerson and his wife Kelly of Kansas City, eight great-grandchildren, Cameron, Lucas, Audrey, Madison Higgerson and Adam Scott and Ryan Gilbraith all of Kansas City, and Jarid and Jordan Renzelman of Kearney, and one brother, Don of Carterville. Clayton C. Spangler IUKA Clayton C. Spangler, 68, died Wednesday, Dec.

20, 1995 at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Spangler was born July 7, 1927, the son of Cloyd and Maude Hawkins Spangler.

He later married Betty Eloise Thompson in Mount Vernon on March 7, 1948 and she survives. Clayton Spangler is also survived by two daughters, Patricia Hawkins and husband, Rod, of La Porte, and Deborah Bullard of Texico. He also is survived by one brother, Red-us Spangler and his wife, Eileen of Texico; one brother-in-law, Dr. Sam Thompson and his wife, Kathleen, of Peoria, one sister-in-law, Patricia Nelson and her husband, Robert; five grandsons and one granddaughter, Bruce Hawkins and wife, Rhonda, of Wallins Creek, Jeffrey Hawkins and wife, Heather, of Newark, Ohio, Ryan Hawkins of La Porte, Rodney Hawkins of La Porte, Aaron Bullard of Flora and June Elizabeth "Beth" Bullard and friend, Jeremy Word, of Carbondale; and five nieces and nephews. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Stars of Vienna. She was born on Oct.

She was born March 4, 1903 in Anna, the daughter of Walter W. and Ella Nichols Wiley. She married Ira Cross on June 9, 1923 at Creal Springs. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1939.

Mrs. Cross is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Lanita Cross of Anna; three daughters and sons-in-law, Evalee and Tom Harman of St. Louis, Shirley and Bill Casper of Carbondale and Carmen and Harlan Coffman of Jonesboro; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He worked for three years in a Gary, steel mill, 12 and half years for Western and Southern Life Insur ance Company in Gary and 25 years for the Metropolitan Insurance Com pany. He was the treasurer for the Zeigler-Royalton School district 188 for 23 years. He was a member and past treasurer for the Zeigler Area Service Club and the Zeigler Rotary Club and a member of the Zeigler and Baptist Church Benevolent Fund Associations. He helped organize the Zeigler Youth Program. Funeral services will be held at 1 1 a.m.
