Several months ago an older club member came around home and bought a damaged glider with him .
Said here you can have this I dont want it anymore . So looked at it and said yes I can repair this . Put it away thinking I will get it done sometime in the future .
Well, I have been working on my super cub and while doing the glass work , thought why not do the ventrus as well . So now I have the fuse all repaired , and working on the damaged wing.
. Seems the glider wasnt a good flyer , by all accounts so doing my best to lighten it up a bit , and hopefully improve its flying ability. Not getting to fussy at the moment just enough to get it flying and see how we go .
Forgot to get any before pics , but here are some while repairing it .
Wingspan 2.7m, orginal wt was said to be 1139gms..But honestly cant see how that was possible,as on some of the forums people have had it up as far as 1900 gms.
I have wt this one as I have it now, which includes 4 micro servos, and all of the glider, bar some of the internal framing ,and it is 1234gms.

I decided to re-visit the Draken to do an 18mm D2.3 powered version using a lightweight BT-60 cone from rocketarium and BT-60 tubing, should be about 14" wingspan and 20.5" long, and 5.2 oz rtf.
Here is the assembly, sort of a puzzle, wing with one elevon attached is slid in the slot and then slid forward to have the chine/intakes go around the nose, other elevon is then attached and rear of slots filled with sections of tubing pieces cut out of the slot.
Tube rear is cut out to mimic a boat tail and move the motor forward for cg. I did the motor mount centering strips in a Y pattern so that I could put the rail button on the bottom and not have it interfere with the motor mount insertion, the upper tab was short because the front of the tube makes contact with the tab on the stabilizer.
I made copies of the decal set I used on my larger version, reduced them and cut them out by hand from vinyl with an exacto, added a few panel lines with my sharpie, turned out pretty nice for a one day project....Continue Reading

Welcome to my build series of the Dumas Boats Great Lakes Freighter kit. This is my first time actually posting anything on RC Groups, so Im not entirely sure how this works. Please bear with me as I learn.
Ive been a fan of Great Lakes shipping for a long time. Some of my favorite memories from when I was a kid is from going and watching the freighters in Duluth. I have wanted to build an RC lake freighter for a long time, but never started because I could never figure out how I would form the sternit is a tricky shape to make, after all. When I discovered this kit, I had to get it.
The kit is modeled after the classic style lake freighters built from pre-1900 to the mid-1970s. This kit is not directly modeled after any one ship (to my knowledge) but it incorporates all the design elements that automatically marks it as a lake freighter.
Ive already built the entire kit, so this will be more of a walkthrough/review than a day-by-day progress report.
Moving on to the details of the model:
The dimensions are 46 (3 10) Long, 6 wide, and about 4 1/4 deep (the depth is the height from the bottom of the ship to the main deck). The overall height is 1 from the bottom of the ship to the top of the main mast. The ship is 1/96 scale. Here is what those lengths translate to irl: 368 Long, 48 wide, and 34 feet deep. It is quite a bit smaller than most lakers built within the last century (which usually measured 450 and up). Dumas says to add a 14 plug...Continue Reading

It came today!
Actually, not a whole lot to build?! It's pretty much done except programming!
A few weeks ago, Doug and then Vic pulled out their Joy's!
All it took was one look at these things and although I knew nothing of the JOY, I knew I was looking at something extra special... Boy did I nail that one!
I watched them in the air with the other f5k's and b's and 3's, wow! Do these things perform!
Done deal... I started talking with Gene and it didn't look real promising... at first. But a few days into talking, it ended up one was on its way to me!!!
Not feelin so good today but I did at least unbox it! Lol, ya, like I'm gonna wait?!
BEAUTIFUL!
Now the part that sucks, I can't start it right away. I must finish the Bow 110 and the Vision first! But, you know me... I don't break many rules, but this just might move along a little faster!
The unboxing! (I'll do more as I feel better.)

Amazon rolls out smart shopping carts at Bay Area Whole Foods, letting you skip checkout line (2 min 41 sec) |
This might be the future of retail. AI toys are here today gone tomorrow. "Just walk out" fizzled. Food delivery robots fizzled. Now it's all about smart shopping carts. Instead of festooning the entire store with cameras, it's potentially cheaper to put cameras in the carts & require everyone to use a cart.
Lions for almost 10 years have used their own truck as a cart. They get sick less, it always works, it doesn't require a bag, it's more maneuverable than a big old cart, it can drive in & out from home with no manual labor. News flash: grocery bags are illegal in Calif*. Don't know why the country thinks Calif* is some kind of freedom utopia.

Hi
FW: EdgeTX 2.7.1
I had build a custom board to run with edge txand my SD clock (SD_CLK) is always stuck at 400 kHz, this probably due to the initialization phase of the SD card interface. As such i unable access the content in my SD card.
Anyone have idea on it?

Phil Goodwin (Rotorhead) has been playing around with the 4D capabilities of our Wigens Z-250 model with the reversing ESC over the last several months and has posted videos along the journey. I've linked them into the Wigens playlist and you can start with this video and see his progression

Update 07 Oct 2021
Made a "Knee board" out of plywood and onto that I glued a RC stick on it's side.
This is the UP/DOWN control for a certain Mil Sim that I like to fly helicopters in.
The second new Picture is my old T Bar throttle.
The RC stick on the Knee Board ( the heli collective ) has an issue that I knew was coming up:
it does nto give full throw because the trim. To trim the stick you need to have some throw in
reserve. So it does not let you use it all unless you trim it. So I now need a newer stick with
the digital trim. But this works ok for the now. The way heli flies you just add Up or Down when
you need it otherwise you can plonk along with the stick on zero. Imagine it's "stabilised"....
:- )
Yep I got it back up and running.
Large stick, fullsize rudder bar, a T Bar Throttle, mixture control and keys...
It's all really very DIY and super cheap. But heck it's amazing !
Smooth, very awesome to fly a SIm Heli with.
Will be upgrading everything slowly, have access to a 3D printer
so some small fiddly parts will get fabbed up. The magnet holder is first on the list.
The idea is that it is a friction fit onto the shaft and the magnet fits in the other end.
The thing can be rotated on the shaft to adjust the angle of the dangle. Too easy.
This stick design has a new advancement: the centering device is now a simple elastic cord.
It pulls down on the gimbal and viola ! It is...Continue Reading

A choc situation prompted the 1st container cleaning in a year. It seems an ice cream had significant leakage.
The only way to completely clean the container has proven to be completely rebuilding it, reinstalling all the wiring. The container rebuild & cleaning takes a full day. There isn't enough time for anything else besides a quick inspection & minor repairs. Things were pretty dusty from a year of driving around the lake.
The right steering section was cracked, so it got some minor CA filler. The left steering section was starting to crack. It needs some stringers going from front to back. It won't be possible to print anything until the weather gets below 90. Monday will bring it to 7 straight days above 100. The redesigned steering plate with its enhanced sideways stringer was still solid. The steering plate got tightened back down but not glued.
The front panel had major cracking from the leash crashing into things. This got structural tape.
A lot of dirt came off the isogrid panels even though it doesn't look like it.
The front tires got rotated.
The leash & radio didn't get cleaned. There is a desire to revert to a full height radio box to try to improve range....Continue Reading

Dragonfly!
The other evening was the maiden voyage of my second Dragonfly. It was everything I had hoped it would be!
The first takeoff was a little cross-windy but after the wheels left the turf it was like stepping back almost a quarter century. Except that the electric motor and the 10-inch prop made it better.
I was able to get in two more flights before the sun set. But before the light deserted me I was able to take a photo by setting the transmitter down, finding the plane in the viewfinder, and taking the shot. I got four pictures that way. Just like the old days.
Heres how I got there . . .
I finished my first Tex Newman Dragonfly from Model Builder plans in 1975. I am sure of that year because one of the two photos of her that I found (taken with real 35mm film) is dated then. That model spent the winter in the wild Virginia woods after I launched it with the switch off (a short, sad story, but last time I saw her in the air she flew like a well-trimmed Free Flight model).
Since I had only a few flights on that model, and I really liked it, I started work on a replacement fairly soon. However work on #2 was suspended prior to the Fall of 1987 (I am sure of that date because thats when we moved to a new house and the bare framework came with us).
#2 moved to another new home in 1999 still untouched.
Then, thanks to you Gray, I got the urge to finish #2 a few weeks ago.
So, the original was powered by a fine little O.S. .15 FP...Continue Reading
