Avocado is used in place of mayonnaise in this no mayo keto coleslaw recipe. It's creamy, tangy and just delicious. A great sugar-free, low carb, keto side dish that is perfect for the summer.

You could spice this up a bit by added a couple of chopped jalapeno peppers too! The beauty of any coleslaw is that it is just so easy to make too! Shred a cabbage, add some flavors and a creamy sauce...voila! I also find that this tastes better after a few hours in the fridge for the flavurs to develop.

Mayo Free Coleslaw

The avocado dressing in this coleslaw recipe gives a creamy dressing that you won't miss the mayonnaise. It makes a great dairy free recipe that you can bring to a cookout, picnic or BBQ. As it's dairy free you don't have the worry of the mayonnaise "spoiling" in the heat.

Avocado Coleslaw Ingredients

I've kept this coleslaw recipe very simple with these ingredients:

  • White cabbage
  • Green onions
  • Avocado
  • Cilantro - If you don't like cilantro, use fresh flat leaf parsley instead
  • Lime Juice
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Dijon Mustard
  • Garlic Powder
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper

You could add red cabbage and a teeny tiny bit of grated carrot for a more colourful dish. Swap the green onions with finely sliced red onions.

What to serve with avocado coleslaw

This is a great salad to bring to any potluck or BBQ. Serve a side of this with our buffalo chicken stuffed peppers, bbq chicken or blackened salmon recipes.

Holy cannoli...this was superb. We didn't have any coriander or spring onion on hand (and used bagged cole slaw mix instead of shredding cabbage), and this was amazing. I would definitely recommend this over mayo-based coleslaw.

We paired ours with jalapeno-honey mayo and black bean burgers. Yum yum yum!

I never thought to use avocado in place of mayo! I'm not a mayo person, especially in dishes that sit in summer heat at a bbq. If you're interested, I'd love for you to share a post in my link up tomorrow. The explanation is right on my main menu under 'Tell 'em Tuesdays'.

Great idea to use avocado instead of mayo! I'm definitely going to do this next time we make coleslaw, which won't be long because we eat a lot of coleslaw! 🙂
