Here for sale we have a left handed Auden Chester Maple Cutaway 45mm in Gloss Natural finish. Auden guitars start life in a small workshop in China where wooden parts are milled and formed, before final assembly and set-up is completed in Auden's UK workshop. This example was completed in 2018, and features an all-solid construction comprising a 'AAA' Spruce top, Flamed Maple back and sides, African Flamed Mahogany neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. This instrument is equipped with a Bone saddle and nut as well as a set of Chrome open-geared tuning machines. A Brad Clark 6-pole undersaddle pickup & 'Face Sensor' are fitted, and are wired to the Supernatural DS preamp. This features a master volume control and 3-band EQ, as well as a program selector button.
The African Flamed Mahogany neck plays beautifully, with a moderately sized profile that could be described as a rounded 'C' shape. Certainly, the neck fills the hand well for a substantial grip whilst remaining slim enough for articulate playing. The Ebony fingerboard is luxurious under the fingers and provides a smooth and durable playing surface right the way up the register. The 16" radius feels nicely flat and consistent, ensuring that a wide range of musical styles and techniques are practical on the instrument. The 000 Cutaway body size is supremely comfortable in the arms, making long practice sessions or gigs an absolute breeze.
The voice of the Auden Chester Maple Cutaway 45mm is smooth and well balanced, with an unpronounced but highly detailed low end, open and clear mid range and rich, shimmering treble response that beautifully colours every note played on the instrument. The 000 body size produces plenty of volume whilst avoiding the 'boom' that is often associated with dreadnoughts or larger body sizes. There is plenty of dynamic range to be found in this guitar too, with quieter playing being rewarded with a lovely intimate tone, ranging through to a powerful sound when strumming hard. The on-board Brad Clark Supernatural preamp system reproduces the acoustic tone of the instrument very faithfully, and makes this a very versatile guitar.
